SOCIETY OF THE SNOW

A year and a half ago, our company received a commission that would mark a milestone in our trajectory... The creation of a telecommunication antenna for a movie. Not only did it capture the audience's imagination, but it also earned recognition from the industry by being nominated for several awards at the Oscars. And this is none other than Society of the Snow.

A challenging, peculiar, and... almost blind assignment.

The first time they contacted me, they spoke vaguely about the project. It seemed that Juan Antonio Bayona was working on his new movie. They mentioned it was a serious assignment, but they couldn't tell me what the plot was about. In fact, it wasn't until the first trailer that I discovered it was a revamped version of the classic "Alive."

The assignment ultimately involved creating an exact replica of the two antennas mounted on that airplane model. These were used to communicate with control towers during takeoff and landing. But throughout the film, it wasn't just an object; it became a symbol of hope and survival. Being a silent protagonist in several scenes of the movie with several close-up shots. These are the two pieces we delivered.

"Our Work on society of the snow"

In the movie, the survivors of the crash, after many hardships, embark on a desperate journey towards the tail of the plane. There, the antenna stands as one of their last chances to communicate with the outside world. If you haven't seen the movie, we'll leave a link for you to watch it. You can watch it on Netflix.. Here are some screenshots of specific scenes where it is the protagonist!

Our Collaboration with Society of the Snow to bring this crucial piece to life in the storyline was a meticulous and exciting process. The antenna we designed and 3D-printed not only had to be aesthetically faithful to the original blueprints provided to us but also durable enough to withstand the rigorous demands of filming. Illuminated under a soft blue light at times and other times against a blinding white, the antenna reflects the hope of salvation and a fusion between aerodynamics and functionality, symbolizing the intersection of our work with cinematic narrative.

We couldn't be more grateful to Bayona and his entire team.

We are immensely proud to have contributed to a movie of such caliber. Our company has always sought to push the boundaries of innovation and creativity, and this collaboration is a testament to our commitment to excellence. Although the movie didn't bring home an Oscar, the honor of being part of its story is, for us, a prize in itself.

We celebrate this achievement and look forward to continuing to be part of projects that challenge our imagination and skills, taking 3D printing to new horizons and contributing to stories that endure in time and in the hearts of the audience.
